We had a busy morning having a look at Remarkable Cave and then doing an 8km run along the scenic coastal trail towards Mount Brown. Our first objective of the day was to get out for a run, preferably one with some views. We decided on a trail run out towards Mount Brown from the Remarkable Caves Carpark. Before heading out we walked down to Remarkable Caves for a peek. It is really impressive as you walk along the boardwalk and staircases to descend first across a deep gully and then down into the end of the “blowhole”. It was yet another gorgeous morning and we attempted to make an early start to walk to Cape Hauy and Mount Fortescue as the walk was recommended in our guidebook (about 18km). Doubts started to set in when we arrived at the trailhead with a sign saying “No access to Mount Fortescue and Mount Pillar”.
