                                             Tharawal country

Participants: Stephen Davies (Photos), Sue Davies (Report)

After reports from friends of waratahs in flower on Curra Moors Track we decided to revisit the area for the day. Our plan was to complete a return loop from Wattamolla, off Sir Bertram Stevens Drive, to Bundeena starting along The Coast Track. Just like yesterday, our walking started after problems getting to our starting point. Heading north into Sutherland a traffic sign indicated Sir Bertram Stevens Drive was closed and detours were in place, no indication of where the road was closed or if it was closed for its entire length. From our reading of the sign we needed to head in via Audley. After driving to the Parks northern entrance station we found we were mistaken, the road being closed at Audley where they were replacing the bridge across the Hacking River.

This South Coast Bushwalking Club trip was an undulating amble along bushland tracks from Loftus Railway Station to Bundeena Ferry Wharf. It passes through the northern section of Royal National Park. Early encounters with morning joggers and mountain bike riders near the tramway track were followed by morning coffees and hot chocolates at Audley. Walking the length of Winifred Falls Trail past the non-flowing Winifred and Anice Falls suggested it may be preferable to complete this section soon after some reasonable rainfall! After a short section of walking along the road into Maianbar we crossed over Cabbage Tree Basin on the foot bridge before walking though to the ferry wharf at Bundeena to complete our walk.                                      Tharawal country

Participants: Stephen Davies (Leader, Photos, Report), Sue Davies, Trish Whitelaw

A predicted hot day ensured Trish, Sue and myself endeavoured to keep cool under trees or in water, hence our trip selection. An interesting diversion (bush bash) was taken along the southern side of Waterfall Gully Creek after the trail was lost at what looked like a creek crossing. We re-emerged onto the road at the junction of Coutts Creek, the trail and the road.
