It was a spectacularly clear day so Sue and I headed up towards Mount Stilwell with the aim of probably ending up in Twin Valleys to get some telemark runs in. What ensued was somewhat different. After passing Stilwell we kept towards the western edge of Kangaroo Ridge to take in the views beyond the Snowy River, turning towards the east before the headwaters of Merrits Creek.

Nowhere along the way offering snow conditions deemed worthy of some runs. Too hard and rough mostly but the texture in the snow was worth photographing. After crossing more unforgiving snow to get to the Thredbo side we found one long run heading east which we did numerous runs on. From here the top of Thredbo resort was seen and heard.

Our alternate route back to Charlotte Pass across Kangaroo Ridge provided a one good climb and descent before a traverse and climb to the saddle below Mount Stilwell.

As the shadows were marching the path of our descent we took our time and picked our way across to the downhill slopes for the final run back to Southern Alps Lodge.
