We participated in this walk with the South Coast Bushwalking Club led by Mel. It was a crisp winter morning, about 3 degrees when we headed off, perfect for a brisk walk!

We headed down the Yarrawa track and soon left the main track for a side trip to the Yarrawa lookout. We enjoyed great views across Barrengarry Creek, the early morning rain had dissipated to reveal clear skies with some mist still in the valley. Some yellow tailed black cockatoos made their presence felt.

We then left the fire trail and negotiated a way through the sometimes steep and unstable ground to Keenans Pass. It was not really possible to trust rocks, trees or ground as it often gave way resulting in some ungraceful falls! We followed the base of the cliff around, which had some beautiful sandstone overhangs until we eventually reached and climbed up through Hindmarsh Pass. We enjoyed a quick snack and decided to continue on to enjoy lunch at the lookout.

Following the cliff-line past Keenans Pass

From here on, being on track, it was much easier going and we quickly arrived at Les Lambert lookout for lunch and an optional nap in the sun or further short exploratory led by Lee. The lookout affords great views of the Budderoo Plateau and the Cambewarra Range. After lunch it was a relatively easy walk on trail back to the Yarrawa fire trail and our cars.

It was a pleasant day walk, on and off track with impressive views of the Kangaroo Valley. Thanks Mel for your leadership and to all participants for their company.
