Starting from the car park past the gravel (blue metal) loader we walked across to Maloneys Bay. After a short section of sand, we were onto the rough volcanic rock which projects out from the coastline as Bass Point, the most prominent headland in the Illawarra area.

Not too far past Maloneys Bay, you have to negotiate a steep-sided gully at sea level. At high tide and, or under a moderate swell this is impassible and at the times can be very slippery if wet. There is a little scramble to exit the gully. There are plenty of great to the south towards Kiama along this section and many rock pools to be explored. Thereafter often people rock fishing but no one was out today.

Nearing Bushrangers Bay we noted the lifebuoy was missing so make sure to bring your lifejackets if you come out fishing. Bushrangers Bay was as beautiful as ever. Our intention waste continue around the coastline but a section of wet very slippery rocks alongside Bushrangers Bay had us decide to head back via the road today.
