Left home before 8:00am for Wonoona. We all meet at Trish and Dave’s and got away about 9am. After gearing up at Waterfall station we headed off.

The day was quite warm and humid but lots of cloud time tempered the conditions. The highlight were the beautiful swimming holes and waterfalls. All except Peter enjoyed the refreshing swims at three of these pools.

We finally got away from Karloo Pool after one last swim and headed up Karloo track on Goondera ridge to Heathcote. This is a distinct well used track that was easy to follow except at one point were there was an alternative off to the left which no one knew where it went.

A half hour wait for the train was made more interesting by the only waiting passenger informing us that the ticketing machine was not working. We headed off to grab rewards (ice creams) and out tickets (the machine worked for us) and home after 6:00pm.

Track Notes: cars were parked at the back of Waterfall Railway car park. The staircase leading to “the track” was taken but we turned and followed the rail line north a short distance before bushbashing down into Kangaroo Creek. The creek was followed until about 1km from Karloo Pool when we headed NE onto the ridge (near spot height 92) where we intersected the track and followed it down to Karloo Pool. Karloo Track was taken back to Heathcote station. At one point the track splits into two prominent tracks – the right hand track was taken. Peter reported the creek level to be higher than his previous trip, when he walked along the creek bed. We spent a good 90% of our time walking along the right hand creek bank.
