From the car park there is a short walk up to a viewing platform which provides panoramic views of the gorge below and the surrounding desert scenery.
The trail meanders through sandy soil and ghost gums before gaining altitude via steps to reach a grated viewing platform. It is possible to continue along the path for a longer route along the gorge. Return via the same route. This is a short but rewarding walk.
The Finke River is considered to be the oldest river system in the world, it has been following the same general course for over one million years. The surrounding geological features are up to one billion years old.
