Thursday 21/10/2022 – 24/10/2022 Hacienda La Pacifica
Liberia Guanacaste
Guanacaste Province, COSTA RICA
Participants: Stephen Davies (Photos, Report), Sue Davies, Cal Stewart, Kerrie Stewart
Hacienda La Pacifica was our base in the area for our four-night stay and the site of our daughter, Beth’s Costa Rican wedding to Pablo on Saturday.
Our immediate impressions here were great, as you kept running into the prolific local wildlife. Deer, rodents, Agouti (Watoosi in Spanish) a frog living in our room’s shower recess and some small lizards on the walls.
During our stay, we also saw a troupe of howler monkeys, iguanas and several other species, “native cane toad” (which are apparently endangered), and many bird species.
Whilst we were there we saw:
Reptiles: Black Spiny-tailed Iguana, Asian House Gecko
Birds: Rufous-naped Wren, Inca Dove, Turquoise-browed motmot, Clay-coloured Thrush
Mammals: Central American Agouti, White-tailed Deer, Variegated Squirrel
