Saturday 26/11/03/2022 Dolphin Cove Drive – Tura Beach – Tura Head Coastal Reserve – Reggie’s Lookout – Tura Head – Short Point Beach
Beowa National Park, NSW
Yuin Country
Participants: Stephen Davies (Photos, Report), Sue Davies Stephen
To round out our day we drove to the carpark on Dolphin Cove Drive at the southern end of Tura Beach. From here we walked tracks we suspected to be mostly frequented by local residents getting out for some exercise and fresh air. From the carpark, you descend onto the beach and walk around a tannin-stained lagoon before climbing a relatively new staircase to gain access to the walking track just above.
Max elevation: 69 m
Total climbing: 207 m
Total descent: -199 m
Average speed: 4.23 km/h
Total time: 01:31:04
This track takes you into the tea tree forest which covers Tura Head. There are several open patches from which you can see Headland Drive, which would be an alternate starting location. Once into Tura Head Coastal Reserve the track becomes more distinct and turns towards the east along the narrow Tura Head. There are several lookouts, both towards Short Point Beach to the south and Tura Beach to the north.
This proved to be a great way to spend a couple of hours with a beach, lagoon, tea tree forest, coastal and cliff views.
