Wednesday 10/10/2018 Powderface Creek – Prairie Creek Loop
Near Bragg Creek, Alberta, CANADA
Participants: Sue Davies (Photos, Report), Beth Davies
This lovely loop follows two creeks on undulating terrain. It is located near Bragg Creek, Alberta. We parked at Elbow Falls carpark and it was a short walk to the start of the trail that follows Prairie Creek. There are good opportunities to see wildlife, varied terrain and vegetation. It is an excellent half day walk.

We followed Prairie Creek along an established trail under sunny skies with the fresh snow from the previous day providing a pleasant surface to walk on. It was clear soon that not just humans used the trail. Some fresh looking tracks, possibly a bear or a wolf, concerned us. We decided to continue but Beth held the bear spray in her hand.
We met another woman with her dog travelling in the opposite direction. She told us the loop took her two hours to that point. It was an advantage to all of us as we broke trail for each other.
The Prairie link trail was particularly scenic today with snow laden and wonderfully textured bark on the trees.
We soon reached the Powderface Creek section where the snow was deeper. What a treat it was to walk through fresh powder. This was a thoroughly enjoyable fall walk that had a winter feel.
