So far, my family and I have been very lucky to have escaped CoVid-19. We have largely kept to ourselves, masked up when around other people and obtained all vaccinations as soon as we could. We were also very lucky to have been able to take advantage of good snow-falls in mid-June and spend six days lift skiing at Perisher Valley. Being easily excited, I spent one of my first days back home diligently going through all my snow-camping kit and packing it ready for a quick getaway as soon as the next opportunity arose. It turned out to be a long wait between ski trips.

A short walking trip away from home before the summer school holidays commence, tied in with a more luxurious retreat for our 33rd wedding anniversary saw us heading off to Kosciuszko National Park again. We had delayed our departure to arrive after a cold wintery change charged through the region with subzero temperatures and snowfalls. Snow was clearly visible across the peaks from before Jindabyne. Certainly not unheard of but unusual for December.
After limiting weather the last two days we awoke to calm conditions and a clear blue sky. The mixed bag of destinations on offer included Watsons Crags, Mount Kosciuszko and Lake Albina. Planning to do more skiing next week in those areas I opted out, aiming instead to ski in the area of Mount Lee.
