Monday 29/12/2014 Kiama – Werri Beach – Gerringong
NSW
Tharawal Country
Participants: Beth Davies, Stephen Davies (Photos, Report), Sue Davies, Christie Stewart, Kerrie Stewart, Lisa Stewart, Stephanie Stewart
Beth had a rare day off, nor had she ever completed the Kiama to Gerringong walk so we decided to make the most of it. The weather forecast was optimal we decided December 29th was the day to do it.
Max elevation: 55 m
Total climbing: 449 m
Total descent: -444 m
Average speed: 4.65 km/h
Total time: 03:22:19
We were joined by Sue’s bestie, Kerrie and her daughters Stephanie, Christie and Lisa, who were visiting from Canada on their annual holiday.
It was a stunning day, the air being very clear, which can be unusual for this time of year. We soaked in the scenery and the views of this spectacular section of coastline, which is not visible from the road.
On the way back we decided to walk down onto and along the rock platform and then scramble up through the cliff further along. We finally found a safe path and while the sandstone was a little crumbly, it provided an interesting alternative route out.
On the way home, we stopped for a well deserved coffee and lunch in Kiama.
