About 2km past Macquarie Rivulet and heading up the Macquarie Pass we pulled off to the left and parked at the end of Clover Hill Road. Past the locked gate there is very easy walking west along the old road through nice bushland all the way to Clover Hill. From the clearing here you can view parts of the escarpment above and gets glimpses towards the east.
Now walking south the road has narrowed to a track, descending to Rainbow Falls on the Macquarie Rivulet. We noticed the hardware bolted into the rock above the falls, used by people canyoning this lower section of Macquarie Rivulet. I took a selection of photos from above the falls before heading a little inland and down to the bottom for a different perspective and more photos.
From here we continued south into the next creek for a look, before heading back towards Rainbow Falls. We were aiming to head up the Macquarie Rivulet towards Mulangong Falls but before getting very far we observed some threatening clouds overhead and a couple of drops of rain, so decided we were done for the day and headed straight back to the car. Having seen no one on the way in we were surprised to see two couples walking in as we headed the other way. Our timing was perfect as the rain started soon after we reached the car.
