Location: JAMIESON-LICOLA ROAD above RUMPFF SADDLE
Waypoint: “FD9 – Jamieson-Licola Road”

Description: FD9@@-551: JAMIESON – Unsealed Jamieson-Licola Rd – Carpark between Mt Shillington & Mt Skene – Barkly River Jeep Track – Rumpff Saddle
2WD Jamieson-Licola Rd (JC Jamieson-Licola Rd between Mt Shillington & Mt Skene, gravel, closed in winter)
Road Closures and Warnings: Closed through winter from 15th June.
The Drive In: The road is initially sealed, leaving Jamieson. A sign indicating that the road is unsuitable for caravans marks the beginning of the gravel road and corrugations! The road is winding and narrow in sections. I drove at a speed of 35 to 40 kilometres per hour. The main concern I had was meeting another vehicle coming in the opposite direction. I did pass several 4WD vehicles, luckily on straighter sections of the road.

After the initial corrugations, the road was relatively smooth until I reached a sign marking the gate that closes on 15/6 for the winter. The road from here was rockier and rougher; caution was required. I eventually found the “carpark” and a relatively level spot to park the van.
Overall, the drive would be fine in dry conditions for someone experienced in driving along gravel roads.

The Food Drop: Further up the hill, amongst the grazing cows, was an area suitable for tents.
