Description: Snowy Mountains Highway – Tantangara Road – Pockets Saddle Trail – Locked gate at Gurrangorambla Creek
Road Closures and Warnings: Heavy vehicles frequent the road as far as Tantangara Dam, whilst the Snowy 2 Project continues. Potential to encounter fallen trees, and the road is subject to winter snowfalls and potentially black ice.
The Drive In: Drive 1 hour from Adaminaby west along the Snowy Mountains Highway (bitumen). Turn right onto Tantangara Road (2WD gravel, then right onto Pocket Saddle Trail (2WD gravel). This is a reasonably good gravel road that goes past Tantangara Dam on the Murrumbidgee River. Park at Gurrangorambla Creek just before the locked gate.

The Walk to the Food Drop Location: Walk 100m west, uphill through light scrub. The tubs were placed 6m north of a large fallen tree.

The Closest Water and Camping: From the AAWT this food drop is a 1.3km sidetrip to the locked gate. Water and camping near to Gurrangorambla Creek, next to the carpark and locked gate.
