More wind and cloud about today.
Our small group headed up along Wrights Creek with the aim of returning via Mount Stilwell, an easy short day. As we reached the top of Wrights Creek, along which we had received good shelter from the prevailed westerlies, we were confronted by the full force of said winds. Visibility was really poor and the wind strong and cold.
Soon after reaching a small abandoned shed we were crossed paths with another party from our lodge who had just descended from the chairlift ruins above before heading off to Twin Valleys.
We did the short climb to the ruins before returning to the hut and deciding not to head across to Mount Stilwell which was directly into the stiff gale. Instead we opted to return via the true left branch of Wrights Creek. At the headwaters were two more concrete blocks sheds, one either side of the creek. It was a little confusing at first as they looked almost the same as the one we had passed earlier.
Passing down the creek in very poor visibility we could have easily missed the cornice and 15m drop below it. It was vertical in places so Sue, Anthony and I sidled around for the descent while Damien found a line over the cornice.
Proceeding along the creek we came to the small waterfall before returning to the lodge.
